Implementation Measures of Jinggangshan University Regarding Awards for International Students in China

Chapter I General Provisions

Article 1 The College commend or reward the individuals or groups of international students with outstanding performance, in order to set up a model, commend the advanced students, encourage the majority of international students in China (hereinafter referred to as "international students") to study hard, strive for progress, and promote the formation of a good phenomenon of study. These Measures are formulated by reference to the Implementation Measures of Jinggangshan University Regarding Awards to the Students and the actual situation of international students in the University.

Article 2 The term "international students" as mentioned in these Measures refer to the students who do not have Chinese nationality in accordance with the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China but hold foreign passports and have been registered to study in the University.

Article 3 Types of awards

1. Individual awards: outstanding student cadre and outstanding graduate.

2. Collective awards: civilized class, civilized dormitory

Article 4 Essential conditions for awards

1. Abiding by the Chinese laws and regulations and respecting the customs and habits of the Chinese people.

2. Studying hard, having good moral character and having no bad integrity record.

3. Abiding by the rules and regulations of the University, and having not been punished based on the rules of the University in the recent academic year.

4. Having paid off all the expenses due to the University.

Article 5 Sources of amounts of awards

The amounts of awards are from the department operating funds of the International College.

Article 6 Procedures and requirements for application

1. Individual awards: to be reported to the corresponding leader in charge upon the students' application, the class recommendation, the qualification review by the International Student Affairs Office of the International College, the preliminary review by the Student Affairs Leading Group of the International College and the review and announcement by the Party and government joint meeting of the International College.

2. Collective awards: to be reported to the corresponding leader in charge upon the class recommendation, the qualification review by the International Student Affairs Office of the International College, the preliminary review by the Student Affairs Leading Group of the International College and the review and announcement by the Party and government joint meeting of the International College.

3. In the assessment of the various awards, we shall adhere to the principle of fairness, openness and fairness and conduct comprehensive evaluation in accordance with the assessment and selection conditions, without taking turns or distributing evenly. The students and advanced collectives to be awarded shall be determined after publicity.

Chapter II Scope of Application

Article 7 Scope of application

1. Personal awards

(1) The award of outstanding student cadre is for international student cadres at the university, college or class level who have been in such office for more than one academic year.

(2) The award of outstanding graduate is for international students who are excellent in character and learning.

2. Collective awards

(1) The award of civilized class is open to all international students.

(2) The award of civilized dormitory is open to all international student dormitories.

Chapter III Assessment, Selection and Awarding of Outstanding Student Cadres and Outstanding Graduates

Article 8 Assessment and selection of outstanding student cadres

1. Upon recommendation by the corresponding class or the international student union, the assessment and selection shall be conducted once a year in October. The ratio shall not exceed 3% of the total number of students and each student will be awarded RMB 100 and given a certificate of honor.

2. Assessment and selection conditions: In addition to meeting the requirements of Article 4, it is also required that the students shall rank in the top 30% of the class in comprehensive scores in the recent academic year, work actively and perform well, and be praised by teachers and students.

Article 9 Assessment and selection of outstanding graduates

1. The assessment and selection shall be conducted once a year in May. The ratio shall not exceed 10% of the total number of students in the graduation class and each student will be given a certificate of honor and not awarded with money.

2. Assessment and selection conditions: In addition to meeting the requirements of Article 4, it is also required that the students shall have excellent performance in daily life and have been granted 4 or more university-level or above-level awards.

Chapter IV Assessment, Selection and Awarding of Civilized Classes and Dormitories

Article 10 Assessment and selection of civilized classes

1. The assessment and selection shall be conducted once a year in May. The ratio shall not exceed 3% of the total number of students and each student will be given a certificate of merit and proper material awards.

2. Assessment and selection conditions:

(1) Such class shall have the atmosphere of behaving positively, respecting the teachers, loving the school, being diligent in learning, being united and friendly and observing the laws;

(2) All students have good cultural scores and moral characters;

(3) All students have a strong sense of honor and have made outstanding achievements in various activities organized by the University and the College;

(4) The class committee has high quality and strong cohesion;

(5) There is no student who is not under academic probation or more serious punishment in such class;

(6) There are more than one civilized dormitory and no unacceptable dormitory in such class.

Article 11 Assessment and selection of civilized dormitories

1. The assessment and selection shall be conducted once a year in May. The ratio shall not exceed 5% of the total number of dormitories. Such dormitories will be given the red flag for civilized dormitories and material awards.

2. Assessment and selection conditions:

(1) The dormitory has formed an active learning atmosphere and the members therein all have good academic scores, without cheating in the examination;

(2) The dormitory members save water and electricity, take good care of the public properties, keep the room clean and do not use the electricity illegally;

(3) The dormitory members abide by the rules of dormitory visitors and the work and rest schedule, and never return late or fail to return for a whole night, and never accommodate outsiders.

Chapter V Organization and Management

Article 12 Organizational management

1. The International Student Affairs Office of the International College shall be responsible for the organization and implementation of the specific work of awards.

2. The College shall issue certificates and bonuses to and make an announcement of the individuals and collectives that have won awards.  

Chapter VI Supplementary Provisions

Article 13 The International College shall be responsible for the interpretation of these Measures.

Article 14 These Measures shall be implemented as of the date of promulgation.
